Kairakuen Garden is one of the three most beautiful gardens of Japan, together with Kenrokuen in Ishikawa and Korakuen in Okayama. The garden was opened in July 1842 and is known for the 3,000 Japanese apricot trees consist of about 100 different types. Umematsuri, or Plum Festival is held every year from February 20th. At the festival, open-air tea ceremonies and open-air Koto, Japanese harp, concerts are demonstrated. The festival draws many visitors from all over Japan. Kairakuen is known not only for the apricot trees but also cherry blossoms in spring, red Kirishima azalea in summer, and red maple leaves in fall. So you can feel and enjoy the beautiful nature throughout the year in the vast 13 Hectares-park.
