Area Map
Shurijo Castle is located on the top of a 120m hill and is the symbol of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Crimson-colored castle buildings are built based on the fusion of Chinese and Japanese architectures and it is designated as a World Heritage due to the historic value. Many slopes, steps and stone pavements are seen in the park because it restored as authentic to what it used to be in the kingdom era, therefore you stroll around the castle in an ebb time you might feel like you are caught in a time warp.
Many events are held to commemorate the Kingdom era, such as Vassal ceremony, Procession of Ryukyu Kingdom, and The party of the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.
