Ichiha, an izakaya in Tokyo's Nihonbashi, enjoyable alone or in a group

Ichiha, an izakaya in Tokyo's Nihonbashi, enjoyable alone or in a group
The moment you open the door, the hustle and bustle of the outside world fades away. Located in the Nihonbashi-Mitsukoshimae area of Tokyo, [Ichiha] is an izakaya where you can casually enjoy seasonal dishes and drinks in a Japanese-modern space. It accommodates a wide range of customers, from solo drinkers to groups, and offers easily selectable courses starting from 3,500 yen. We have visited the restaurant ourselves to experience its comfort and satisfaction.

From solo drinking to banquets, a reliable izakaya in the Nihonbashi-Mitsukoshimae area, Tokyo | Ichiyo
At night, the glass-walled restaurant is enveloped in a soft orange light, making one instinctively want to stop by. While the exterior gives off a slightly stylish impression, inside, one can often see many office workers from the nearby area, creating an atmosphere that naturally blends into everyday life. Such restaurants are usually a safe bet.

The restaurant features counter seats as well as table seats arranged at a comfortable distance from each other. It is also possible to book the restaurant for exclusive use if the party orders a course for 15 or more people. The flexibility to accommodate everyone from solo diners to large groups is another attractive aspect.

For a first visit, I recommend trying the 'Special Selected Course that Pairs Well with Alcohol'.

On this day, I had the restaurant's recommended "web reservation・seasonal limited / meals only" course called 'Dishes Perfect for Alcohol,' a specially selected cuisine course. It consists of seven dishes and is priced at an exceptional 3,500 yen per person, offering ample volume. While enjoying my drinks, guests can fully experience the charm of Ichiha in one go.

Appetizers: "Today's Cheese", "Vegetable Sticks"

Start with the "Today's Cheese". This appetizer features a smooth cheese complemented by the gentle sweetness of honey, gracefully catching the first drink of the evening.

Next up is a dish that lets you savor seasonal vegetables with homemade mayonnaise and moromi miso. Each vegetable is fresh and flavorful. The rich homemade mayonnaise and moromi miso enhance the flavors, naturally encouraging more sips of your drink.

The first drink I chose was the "Ichiha Original Lemon Sour". It combines fresh lemon juice with high-quality honey, offering a subtle sweetness that is pleasantly comforting, making it the perfect start to a meal.

Fried Burdock Root

Fried Burdock Root
A dish of burdock that becomes addictive due to its savory taste and texture. It is perfect as a palate cleanser or as an accompaniment to alcohol.

Signature Dish: Special Miso Offal Stew

Signature Dish: Special Miso Offal Stew
What left a lasting impression was the restaurant's specialty, "Special Miso Offal Stew." The glossy miso-colored soup, generously filled with offal, stimulates the appetite. The homemade miso, a blend of white, red, and barley miso, is rich yet smooth, with the aroma of perilla leaves added as a finishing touch providing a pleasant accent.

Upon seeing the homemade fruit liqueurs lined up on the counter, one cannot help but order, especially if I am a fruit enthusiast. The "Lemon & Kiwi Sour" (right) offers a refreshing sweetness and pleasant acidity, while the "Mikan Sour" (left) presents a balanced bitterness and sweetness from the citrus, making it a perfect companion to the meal.

Baked Cheese with Mashed Potatoes and Avocado

Baked Cheese with Mashed Potatoes and Avocado
Smooth mashed potatoes combined with the richness of avocado and melting cheese create a dish that is rich in texture yet leaves a gentle aftertaste. The excellent compatibility of the ingredients stands out.

Homemade Fried Chicken

Meat Dish #1: "Homemade Fried Chicken"
Enjoy crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside fried chicken served with plenty of vegetables. The seasoning is well-infused, making it a perfect accompaniment to alcohol.

Harami Steak

Meat Dish #2: "Harami Steak"
The harami steak, cooked rare, becomes increasingly delicious as one chews, with each bite releasing more flavors. Seasoned with a strong hint of garlic, this dish also pairs wonderfully with alcohol.

The final dish, "Fried Rice"

The final dish, "Fried Rice"
The meal concluded with a fragrantly stir-fried fried rice. Despite its light texture, it perfectly captured the lingering aftertaste of the meal, providing a satisfying finish.

From appetizers to the main course, each dish was crafted with care and had ample volume. Before realizing it, one naturally felt full, leaving a sense of satisfaction beyond the price. The drink selection was extensive, including highballs, sours, whiskey, sake, and a wide range of wines. Among them, the original sour made with fresh juice was particularly noteworthy. It complemented the restaurant's signature simmered offal and fried dishes without adding heaviness, seamlessly enhancing the dining experience.

This time, I chose the 'Special Course Perfect for Pairing with Alcohol' to enjoy as a complement to drinks, but it seems like a good idea to also drop by a la carte on a whim. The 'Complete Satisfaction Course' featuring a variety of ingredients also piques my interest. Next time, I plan to visit again in a different setting.
